Welcome to my garden!

Well, two gardens really: one in the front and one in the back. Each garden is different in character and purpose. The back garden faces north and is a haven for relaxation and growing food. The northerly aspect is a challenge but it’s big enough to ensure that it gets enough sunlight for six months of the year to be useful. Some of the key dates of the year occur around the equinoxes when the sun touches the bottom of the fence at solar noon.

The front garden is bigger and faces south. It’s the first thing visitors see and is designed primarily for visual impact. That’s quite unusual these days when front gardens seem to be used as car parks and somewhere to keep the bins. With a mixture of flower beds, gravelled areas, and rock gardens, there is enough variety to provide interest throughout the year.
